The BOLD Festival

Liz Lea Dance

The BOLD Festival is a 5 day event running across Canberra’s national institutions that celebrates the legacy and impact of professional and community dance across all ages and cultures.

The festival took place in March 2019.
Over 130 participants, 90 delegates, 55 talks, 9 workshops, 7 films and 5 performances in 5 venues took place over 5 days. Talks, workshops, films and performances were hosted by four national institutions and one dance organisation: the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA), National Library of Australia (NLA), National Portrait Gallery (NPG) National Gallery of Australia (NGA) and Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centre (AGAC).

MOON MOVES

Australian Talented Youth Project

Moon Moves; Movement, Music and the Moon, focuses on the development of physical, mental and emotional health for seniors by providing creative movement opportunities.

This intergenerational project brings together residents from three Goodwin Retirement Homes, Dance for Parkinson's, members of the GOLD over 55 dance company and young artists (The A Team) in the development of a series of performances and a short film.

Over 6 months the Australian Talented Youth Project (ATY) will facilitate a program of regular dance classes. These culminate in a series of interactive performances and short film aligning with Dance Week and National Science Week as part of a wider community arts event, building health, well being and self esteem.

RED

Liz Lea Dance

RED; A poignant, riotous, glamorous and ultimately triumphant exploration of one woman’s story – an exquisite exploration of female endurance. RED is fearless, RED is fierce, RED is powerful – a one-woman dance theatre work with a hint of fun and fabulousness.

You will laugh, you’ll cry, you won’t forget. Described as unforgettable, shattering and hilarious, RED is a soul baring retelling of one woman’s journey through illness and recovery with an eye to the future.

ONE GIANT LEAP

Liz Lea Dance

One giant leap: dance through time and space is a dynamic community dance project celebrating space exploration and the hold it has on people's imaginations. It is a uniquely local project that brings together many cultures and styles-from hip hop, Bollywood, contemporary dance, elders and dancers living with a disability-to recognise pivotal achievements of the local science community in contributing to humanity's reach for the stars.

Taking inspiration from the 1969 Moon Landing, the project weaves archival recordings, music of the era and people's memories of the event with dynamic dance to recognise the ACT's contribution in relaying the first images of that historic moment to the world.
