Australian Dance Week Calendar Release
It has been worth the wait! The range of events is quite extraordinary and highlights the growing strength of dance, both professional and community, in Canberra and surrounds.
Australian Dance Week provides the opportunity for us to turn the spotlight on our incredible local dance scene and we are very proud that Ausdance ACT hosts the largest Australian Dance Week program in Australia.
This is the time to get out and try a new dance experience, see a show, take a class and celebrate dance. Canberra let’s DANCE!
Dance Artists in Schools
Our Dance Artists in Schools Program creates a special opportunity for primary and secondary students and their teachers to work with some of the leading dance artists in Canberra in the dance genre of your choice! We specialise in sourcing diverse dance experiences for your students to extend their practice and cultural knowledge.
Let us do the work for you! Here is what is included:

Teachers share their vast knowledge in dance, from technique to choreography and cultural awareness in the workshop or class format of your choice.

A wide range of genres is available including Cultural Dance (Afro/Indian Classical/Bollywood), Street Dance, Creative Dance, Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and more!

Fabulous Fan Veil Dance Workshop with Jazida
Celebrate Australian Dance Week with Jazida! In this fun and exciting workshop, participants will explore dancing with silk fan veils. These beautiful props will be provided in class to borrow and will bring a joyful burst of dynamic colour to the room.
Silk fan veils are a hypnotic and extravagant prop that can dramatically enhance performances with a whirl of colour.
Award winning Jazida is known for her use of silk fan veils and will share her tips and techniques on using these props in spectacular style.
This workshop is open to all ages, experience and abilities.
Get ready for loads of fun-fan dancing!
Ausdance ACT supported Jazida's (Rachel Reid) professional development in 2023 as the Lou Cope Doing Dramaturgy Bursary recipient and with a residency at Gorman Arts Centre.
