Due to COVID 19, Ausdance ACT has made the difficult decision to cancel the Youth Dance Festival for 2020. This is very unfortunate as the YDF is a very exciting time for the dance community in Canberra, bringing young creativity and connection.
There is GOOD news! In Terms 3 and 4 of 2020, Ausdance ACT will be in touch with the Dance Fest community to see what support we can offer dance education so that school and college students can continue to develop their skills and enjoy the significant benefits of dance.
If your school decides to develop a 5-minute work, for performance at your school, on the 2020 theme of ENVISION and would like some choreographic development support and mentoring for that – please be in touch with us.
Also let us know if you would like support with filming, if your school decides to do a film.
We will also be in touch with you about whether you would be interested in professional learning or other open class development opportunities at your school, in term 3 or term 4.
YOUTH DANCE FESTIVAL
Youth Dance Festival (affectionately known as Dance Fest) is a remarkable Canberra success story and has been proudly presented by Ausdance ACT since 1985. A long-term feature on the Canberra arts and education calendar and now in its 35th year, Dance Fest boasts a second generation of participants, a proud alumni and a strong legacy. Dance Fest is a non-competitive celebration of dance that embraces differences, creativity, team work and building relationships.
Students are provided with a safe and supportive environment to be creative, self-express and partake in a rich artistic process.
